The Client
Centrepoint is the UK’s leading charity for homeless young people, supporting over 14,000 young people aged 16 to 25 each year. The charity provides safe accommodation, health support and life skills, helping those who have experienced homelessness to rebuild their lives and move into independent living.
The Brief
Centrepoint came to Nutmeg Productions through Arthur London needing a production partner who could handle everything from creative development through to broadcast delivery, not just for a single film, but as an ongoing multi-year DRTV partnership. Each campaign needed to capture the true human reality of youth homelessness and translate it into a direct response fundraising film capable of driving sponsorships across broadcast TV and digital channels.
Our Approach
At the heart of every Centrepoint DRTV is a real young person, someone whose life has been shaped by homelessness and transformed by Centrepoint’s support. We build each film around that real case study, developing a narrative that is honest about the difficulty of life on the streets while giving audiences a clear and hopeful reason to act.
The production process begins with casting and workshopping with actors, then moves through scripting, location sourcing and filming. We filmed through the night on location to capture authentic urban environments, the kind of gritty, real detail that a controlled daytime shoot simply can’t achieve. Post-production covers editing, motion graphics, bespoke music composition and Clearcast compliance, with final delivery to broadcast specifications.
Over the course of the partnership we have produced multiple films for different campaigns Centrepoint runs throughout the fundraising calendar, each one distinct in story while consistent in craft and emotional impact.
The Result
The Centrepoint DRTV campaigns have delivered consistent year-on-year growth in fundraising — a testament to the power of authentic storytelling in direct response, and to a production partnership built on deep understanding of both the audience and the cause.
