The Client
NHS is one of the world’s most recognised healthcare brands, and we’ve built up a long-standing relationship with them as their go-to agency for film and digital content.
The Brief
We were asked to create a series of short recipe films helping parents find genuinely useful ideas for weaning their babies onto solid food.
The Approach
We developed our own brand look and feel for the series, then got to work on the recipes themselves – a real range of finger foods and dishes from different cultural backgrounds, including ham and cheese flatbreads, African bean stew, chicken noodles, bolognese and breakfast cups, all chosen to be accessible and relevant to as many families as possible.
The shoot split into two halves: two days filming real babies trying the finished recipes for those all-important start and end clips, and two days of top-down cook-along filming for the bulk of the films, with graphics and animated ingredients building up the recipe step by step as it came together. Every recipe was considered carefully for colour and visual appeal as well as taste, alongside keeping things simple and genuinely appetising on screen.
Filming with babies meant going with the flow, just as it always does – plenty of dropped food, playing rather than eating, and parents getting stuck in with the spoon-feeding! We always have a first aider on set for shoots like this, and ours is a firm favourite: an ambulance driver we call in whenever we need one.
The Result
The films went out on the Start4Life YouTube channel and have racked up thousands of views.
