The Client

Houzz is a global home renovation and design platform connecting homeowners with architects, designers and contractors. Their London office is a key hub for their European operations, and like many fast-growing technology companies, attracting and retaining the right talent in a competitive market is a constant priority.

The Brief

Houzz came to Nutmeg with a brief to create a corporate culture film, deliberately in a non-corporate style, to support recruitment and staff retention. The film needed to showcase their new London HQ and, more importantly, give prospective candidates and existing staff a genuine sense of what it’s actually like to work there: the pace, the people, the culture.

Our Approach

We worked with a cross-section of the Houzz team to build a portrait of the company that felt representative rather than curated. Filmed in a fun, light-hearted style across a single day, the film moves through the office and the team, letting real employees speak about what drew them to Houzz and what keeps them there, rather than relying on scripted testimonials or polished corporate language.

The tone was deliberately informal, we wanted the film to feel like a genuine glimpse inside the company rather than a recruitment advert, because that’s what actually resonates with the kind of candidates Houzz wanted to attract.

The Result

The film sits on the Houzz website and is used throughout their recruitment process, giving candidates a real sense of the company before they ever set foot in the office. It’s also used internally to reinforce culture and a sense of belonging among existing staff, supporting Houzz’s wider retention efforts.
For Nutmeg, this is a good example of how a single, well-made culture film can serve two audiences at once, external candidates deciding whether to apply, and existing staff whose sense of identity and belonging it helps reinforce.
