Promoting Britain to the World

DCMS (the Department for Culture, Media and Sport) is the UK government department responsible for culture, media, sport, tourism and civil society.

Nutmeg works regularly across government departments and the public sector, and DCMS commissioned what they internally called their “About Us” film — a piece showing how and why the department works to promote Britain to the world.

We used a mix of stock footage, filmed footage and animation to showcase the breadth of Britain and DCMS’s work — featuring landmarks including the Angel of the North and the Bristol Suspension Bridge, alongside footage representing Britain at work and leisure. The creative concept came from us — a single thread, brought to life by our in-house animator Max Ceccini, running through everything DCMS do, tying together these landmarks with more personal touches into one continuous, unifying line.

The film went down brilliantly with DCMS. As they put it themselves: “Apologies for the delay but I wanted to say a huge thank you for your work on our About Us film. It was really well received. So thank you!”
