The Royal Society wanted a corporate video production company to create a series of films to showcase how the UK’s world-leading pool of talent in the sciences need not restrict their careers into silos of either in academia or industry.
The videos needed to showcase how scientists could move seamlessly between these two different careers and innovate in their field, grow their knowledge and further their careers. Royal Society selected 6 different case studies from across the UK to give practical examples of how people had done this in their career.
We met scientists including the Artificial Intelligence lead at Microsoft and the world’s biggest manufacturer of graphene. Each of them talked to us about how they had worked, or still worked, across two fields, whether it was commercialisation of academic research or how their careers had evolved across the commercial sector.
We used a visual device to wrap each film using a green screen to change the backgrounds from academia to industry to visually underline the narrative.
The films where highly successful achieving over 1 million hits.
